Algoldor or in full Frantisek Algoldor Apfelbeck (DECT 3726). I'm a food hacker and biotechnologist travelling the world learning and teaching food&beverage fermentation and discovering the beauty of life! I'm participating in the hacker movement because of it's openness, versatility and potential to improve the life on this planet. I'm promoting the use of ancient arts combining it with the new ones.

I consider myself a kvasir, person fallowing the ancient way of fermentations which is in the same time also very fresh, I'm dedicating part of my life to that. I'm interested also in many other things from experiencing various human cultures around the world by living together with them or at least visiting, to loving nature in its pure form like you can experience in Alaska, Norway or other remote places on everyday bases.

Workshops and educational activities in general are the main focus of fhb. You are welcome to join them on '''donation based scheme no one turned away for lack of funds'''. Of course you can also give workshops. If you believe something should be on the list get in touch on the [http://lists.hackerspaces.org/mailman/listinfo/foodhackingbase fhb discuss] or just check [[Village:Foodhackingbase/get_in_touch|how to get in touch page]] and lets make it happen. To cover the costs of workshops below €50 is easy, up to €100 doable on regular bases, if you have higher costs than that it can be done, however lets work out and plan bit more cautiously in such case ... Workshops should be created as a '''[[Self-organized_Sessions| self organized sessions]]''' for easy coordination with SHA2017 camp orga, fhb and the participants.

It is up to you if you want to get the ingredients for the workshop by yourself first and get reimbursed during the event (that is preferred by fhb), or we get what you need and then it is covered from the workshops profit. Also nice way is if you chip some money in to the fhb budget and do the shopping within the fhb project and your investments are covered later on from the workshop profit. The general guideline is that if you give workshop you should end up at least on €0 certainly not in minus. As at the previous events you and your partner/friend are welcome to join our table for the day when you give your workshop if you like to do so. During this workshop you will learn how to make your own [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kefir kefir] ferments using the kefir grains culture. We will explain basic concepts of probiotic, prebiotic and biofilm based polycultures and why it is good to consume foods “labeled” by these terms. You will prepare your own kefir culture, based on a working manual [https://foodhackingbase.org/wiki/Recipe:Kefir_making_manual_-_short_workshop_form (link to electronic version)] and take it with you so you will be ready to brew wherever you decide hopefully “positively infecting” your local hackerspace :-).

We will be talking about milk/dairy fermentations focusing on kefir and yogurt cultures, explaining also the concept of slow food and related terms like probiotics etc. We will demonstrate how to make a new batch of kefir and how to harvest the old one. The main aim of this workshop is for the participants to understand the principles behind the milk fermentation with kefir culture. Combined with the practical experience which we provide you will be able to take care properly about your kefir cultures which is the key for your successful long term fermentation adventures! As usually there will be tasters, cultures sharing, manuals and various hints how to use the products in alternative ways making for example probiotic drinks from whey, cream cheese et cetera. We will also provide troubleshooting help if you need it.

This workshop is donation based no one turned away for lack of funds. [[User:Algoldor|Algoldor]], who is leading this workshop will be very grateful for any donation which he would use for future projects and covering his living costs.
