Q: Why isn't this an official geocache?
A: The rules of the official geocaching game by Groundspeak, do no allow for event cache for non-geocaching events. SHA2017 does not qualify as a geocaching event.
Q: Will you be reusing the caches technology?
A: Potentially, if I have enough fun with it during this event.
